After years of working primarily with transparent glass, I really craved working with opaque glass and more saturated colors. These pieces are multi-layered with many components that have been fired in separate processes using glass powder and frits. Parts of some pieces may look out of focus - this happens when the top layer is sandblasted transparent glass, which reduces the visual clarity and partially blurs the underlying design. The four pieces inspired by Jackson Pollack use glass stringers each one of which I have created using a small kiln with a hole in the bottom through which the glass is pulled and shaped.
All of the pieces have been sandblasted and refired to a matte texture.
