After two decades in the very left brain field of law, I went outside my comfort zone and signed up for a glass art class in 2003. I hadn't really thought of myself as being very artistic. Working with my hands and being creative felt pretty unnatural to me. At the time I never imagined I would be selling my work just a few years later.

What began as a journey of self-exploration and curiosity blossomed into a new career path and life pursuit. I am convinced we are all creative, some discover it as children, others carry the "I'm not artistic" conviction to their graves.
I see now how I was always an artist at heart and am so thankful I discovered my creative side. I love the clarity of mind and meditative calm I experience when creativity is flowing. I’m also intrigued by where my creativity will lead me and how I can challenge myself to push beyond my imagined boundaries.

I love the complexity glass presents as a medium. We buy it in sheets, frit, stringers, powder and billets; we work it cold or molten hot; we cast it, slump it, manipulate it when torchworked or cut it into stained glass. It can be shiny or matte, transparent or opaque; easy and predictable or fickle and frustrating. The possible textures, colors, forms and techniques seem infinite. Every kiln firing offers the chance to experiment, the potential for failure and the possibility of unexpected stunning results.

I'm an experimenter at heart and as long as glass keeps surprising and challenging me, I'll keep working with it as an artist.
